Our Senior Complete Multivitamin is specifically formulated to meet the unique needs of South East Asia’s adults over 50. Adequate nutrition becomes even more important as we age. A 2009 study in the Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that regular multivitamin use is associated with more intact DNA throughout life, which may be related to the rate at which people age. The improvement in the DNA found in this particular study may make a difference in quality of life in the later years.
As with our other products, we considered that seniors have different nutritional needs when compared to other age groups. In developing this formula, we took into account that a primary goal for many older adults is to live a vibrant and healthy life well into their older years. Helping older adults reach the goal long-term health guided the formulation of our product. Seniors may also be concerned about brain health, maintaining a healthy immune system, bone strength, and vision. Although a standard multivitamin may contain some similar ingredients to our senior formula, we have included a few specialized nutrients tailored to seniors alone.
In our Senior Complete Multivitamin we have included bone strengthening nutrients such as calcium, Vitamin D, and phosphorus. We included the most absorbable and potent forms of calcium and vitamin D, calcium carbonate and vitamin D3. For brain health, we added vitamin B12, E, and the antioxidants vitamin A and C. Vitamins A and C also play double duty in that they help support a healthy immune system throughout life.
Lycopene and Lutein
Two of the most potent nutrients we included in our senior formulation are lycopene and lutein. These two nutrients belong to the carotenoid family and are usually found in orange, red, and yellow fruits and vegetables. They are potent antioxidants with a variety of health benefits, especially for older adults. Multiple studies have shown that lycopene and lutein may play a role in reducing the risk of cancer of the prostate, lung, colon, or stomach. These antioxidants have also been identified as one of the primary nutrients in reducing the risk of macular degeneration or age-related vision loss. Other benefits of lycopene and lutein include helping to maintain healthy skin, heart, and immune system. We wanted to include these powerful nutrients in our senior formula to help older adults achieve a variety of health goals.
